MATAHARI POSTED RP 65 BILLION EBITDA FORQ1’03 IN WEAK RETAIL MARKET CONDITION
PROPOSED 30% CASH DIVIDEND FOR FY2002
Jakarta, April 30, 2003 -The continued weak retail market environment with clear sign of low customer’s spending, has affected most retail companies’ performance since last year. Despite the prevailing situation, Matahari earlier today announced its un-audited Q1’03 Financial Results with strong EBITDA of Rp 65 Billion. Within the current weak market, Q1’03 Total Sales reached Rp 1.06 Trillion, which was 10% lower than previous year’s Rp 1.18 Trillion, affected among others by declining customers’ spending year-to-date, last year’s aggressive sales campaign to dispose marked-down aging inventory and in less impact of decon solidation effect of Courts (a Subsidiary). Toward the end of Q1’03, theuncertainties was also signified by Iraq War and SARS fear, which certainlyhalted customers going into public areas, including shopping malls.However, positive improvement was made in Matahari’s Consolidated Gross
Margin, which increased to 29.8% from last year’s 29.3%. This indicated themanagement’s focus and efforts to control costs (purchase costs) andinventory quality has started to show its early results in-line with its businessdirection.On the Operating Expenses, controllable costs were tightly controlled. Severalcosts have been reduced compared from the previous year: Salary & Wages7.7% lower (Rp 86 Billion), Depreciation cost 4.1% lower (Rp 33 Billion) and
Other costs 1.5% lower (Rp 42 Billion). However, several un-controllableoperating costs still increased concurrently with the prevailing inflationarysituation. The 8% increase of rental charges (Rp 87 Billion) was inevitable butmanaged firmly and toughly. Additionally, electricity & energy costs alsoshowed 6.9% increase to Rp 27 Billion due to higher electricity tariff & fuel
prices compared from the previous year. To confront the intense competitionand maintain Matahari’s position in the market, an aggressive marketingapproach was taken in Q1, which resulted higher marketing cost.Management believed the higher cost was more than compensated as longterminvestment to strengthen the Company’s image and will bring benefit inthe future. As the results of the above condition, lower Operating Income in
Q1’03 was inevitable although EBITDA remained strong at Rp 65 Billion.
FY2002 Cash Dividend
Subject to the final approval from shareholders, Matahari’s managementseriously considers to propose 30% Cash Dividend for FY2002 equaling to Rp30.5 Billion or Rp 12.5 per share on the upcoming AGM Meeting. With strongRp 490 Billion Cash & cash equivalents on-hand in Q1’03 and despite thecurrent high uncertainties where cash liquidity becomes first priority to any
businesses, this dividend payment demonstrates Matahari’s effort to maintainstrong dividend yield to its valued shareholders.

Within the year 2004, the Company also successfully executed its aggressive expansion planby opening 10 new department stores, 13 hypermarkets (exceeding initial plan of 10 stores),4 children specialty stores, 4 soft discount stores and 3 supermarket in Indonesia, andsuccessful establishment of its first department store presence in United States. The interim Matahari’s Jan '04 results revealed that its Total Consolidated Sales grew byapproximately 36.5% from last year reaching Rp 630 Billion, which was underpinned by13.7% growth from its department store division and 89.2% growth from its supermarketdivision, which was also driven by its hypermarket y-o-y growth of 254.2%.

MATAHARI BEGINS ITS 2005 EXPANSION WITH THEOPENING OF HYPERMART IN JAKARTA
Jakarta, February 2, 2005 – PT Matahari Putra Prima Tbk (MPPA) – aleading, national modern retailer with a total network of 241 stores includingDepartment Stores, Hypermarts, Supermarkets & Time Zones, starts its 2005expansion plan with the opening of the fifth Hypermart stores located in GajahMada Plaza, Jakarta. PROPOSING 30% PAYOUT OF CASH DIVIDEND IN THE NEXT ANNUAL
SHAREHOLDERS MEETING
Jakarta, March 1, 2006 -While PT. Matahari Putra Prima Tbk (“Matahari”) is in theprocess of finalizing its audit process for FY2005 results, the Company today released apreliminary indication of its FY2005 Results where Total Sales is expected to reach closed toRp 7 Trillion, representing a y-o-y growth of approximately 23% from last year.The sales achievement was underpinned by a continued growth from its two key BusinessUnits. Matahari Department Store Division (MDS) reported a positive growth of 9%, whileMatahari Supermarket Division (MSM) confirmed its turnaround strategy with an extraordinaryachievement of more than 63% y-o-y sales growth driven by its hypermarket performance.The Company is also proud to deliver a remarkable FY2005 Net Earnings exceeding Rp 200Billion from last year’s Rp 125 Billion, representing more than 60% EPS growth. This solid performance is driven by a double digit growth from its Net Earnings from business operation and a one-time gain from HERO share divestment last September 2005. Despite thea stounding net earnings growth, the Company still maintains its existing cash dividend payment policy. Subject to the shareholders’ approval, the Management will be proposing cash dividend payment of 30% from its FY05 Net Earnings on the next Annual Share holders Meeting on March 31, 2006. This dividend payment will be the highest dividend per share(DPS) paid in the last 5 years of the Company’s dividend payment history.

MATAHARI POSTED 15.7% NET EARNINGS GROWTH IN1H’06 REACHING RP 44 BILLION DESPITE OPERATING INUNCERTAIN MARKET ENVIRONMENT
Jakarta, September 21, 2006 - Despite the turbulent economic market environment whichleads to the consumers’ uncertainty during the first semester of 2006, PT. Matahari PutraPrima Tbk (“Matahari”) today announced its audited 1H’2006 financial results with continuingsound improvements both in net sales & profitability growth from last year, which was alsosupported by the equally favorable results during its Q2’06 performance:
• Total net sales grew by 25.3% percent, reaching Rp 3.48 trillion in 1H’2006, up fromRp 2.78 trillion in 1H’2005. This was supported by the growth in its two core retailbusinesses: 6.5%growth in the department store division with total net sales reachingRp 1.75 trillion and 60.7% growth in the supermarket/hypermarket division with totalnet sales reaching Rp 1.56 trillion, mainly driven by the growth of hypermarkets.While Q1’06 contributed Rp 1.68 trillion in sales, Q2’06 further strengthened the salesachievement by contributing another Rp 1.8 trillion to the consolidated sales to-date.
• Operating profit grew by 64.7% from Rp 68.3 billion in 1H’2005 to Rp 112.4 billion in1H’2006, contributed by Rp 58.3 billion & Rp 54.2 billion in Q1’06 and Q2’06,respectively.
• Net income (after tax) reached Rp 44.1 billion in 1H’ 2006, up from Rp 38.1 billion in1H’ 2005, which represents 15.7% y-o-y growth and was driven by Rp 31.9 billionearnings during Q2’06.

The consolidated Gross Profit grew by 17.1% reaching Rp 948.5 billion underlined by theQ1’06 and Q2’06 gross profit contribution of Rp 459.5 billion and Rp 489.0 billion,respectively. Nevertheless, consolidated gross margin was slightly adjusted from last year’s29.2% to 27.2% as the result of higher sales contribution from Hypermart business with itsassociated lower gross margin compared of department store business,.Mataharialso continues to demonstrate its ability to control its overall operating expenses,which only grew by 12.7% from last year relative to the higher growth of sales and gross profitmentioned above. This translated into Operating Income reaching Rp 112.4 billion (3.2% ofsales) in 1H’06 from last year’s Rp 68.3 billion (2.5% of sales).
As the results of lower Other Charges in Q2’06 in the amount of Rp 18.4 billion, compared to
Rp 43.3 billion in Q1’06, the Q2’06 contributed additional Rp 31.9 billion net earnings for the
Company, which led to 1H’06 Net Income Before Tax to reach Rp 53.1 billion and Net Income
After Tax grew by 15.7% from last year to reach Rp 44.1 billion for the period.According to Benjamin Mailool, President Director of Matahari, “We are proud and pleasedthat we have been able to drive Matahari to reach its encouraging 1H results even though wewere operating in a weak and challenging retail environment impacted by recent increases infuel prices. We believe that our achievements to-date demonstrate that our key retailbusinesses of department stores and supermarket/hypermarkets have been moving in theright strategic directions, and also the results of improvements in accountability and disciplinein our management and staff. We will strive to ensure that future expansion in 2006 isconducted on a timely basis in accordance with our expansion schedule and will endeavor toprovide the financial resources necessary to grow Matahari’s sales further.”
New Store Expansion in 2006
Seeking to maintain its position as the largest retailer in Indonesia, Matahariwill continue to
expand its business by opening additional 4 department stores, 5 hypermarkets, 1 supermarket, 5 children specialty stores and several entertainment centers in the second semester of 2006. Within thefirst half of 2006, Matahari already successfully opened 3 hypermarkets, 2 children specialty stores and 2 entertainment centers throughout Indonesia. Such expansion would result in a nationwide network of 84 department stores, 27 hypermarkets, 35 supermarkets, 10 children specialty stores, and approximately 113 family entertainment centers representing anin crease of more than 100,000 sqm store space by end of year.
